Welcome to Day 12 in our 31 Day series on A Mom’s Guide to Getting it All Done. In case you missed yesterday’s post you may want to go and read it first. Or just jump in right here with us today.
Unusual wisdom. I ask for it all the time.
One day a few years ago, I was reading Acts 7:10 where Stephen shares the story of Christian History, leading up to Christ, in a very condensed way. A sentence right in the middle of it talks about Joseph (coat of many colors Joseph) and it says “God also gave Joseph unusual wisdom.” As soon I read that it became my prayer.
I know that when I ask for wisdom, and believe I will receive it I do (James 1:5-7). I have experienced this over and over in life, with my marriage, for my mothering… But if God would give Joseph unusual wisdom perhaps He will do the same for more of us when we ask for it.
Wisdom is really what we need when we talk about trying to get it all done as moms. I need wisdom and you do too. It’s what we need when we just don’t know what to do (and that’s me on a daily basis as a mom). It keeps me clinging to God and learning to trust Him.
He comes through every time. He wants us to ask for wisdom. It’s the one thing He guarantees to give us every time we ask for it. Think about it – it takes humility to ask for help. Wisdom is the ultimate help from an all-powerful God.
If more moms were praying for unusual wisdom each and everyday there would be an amazing increase in our effectiveness in our lives. I want that. Don’t you?
Try it today. That thing that you are trying to figure out and don’t have the answers for? Ask God for wisdom. In fact, be brave and ask Him for unusual wisdom.
