I’m going to keep it short and sweet today because I am going to give you a bit of homework. Don’t worry, I think you’ll like this homework. So, here we go…
Yesterday I stopped at a store. You know, the girly kind with make up and hair care products from wall to wall? I have a love/hate relationship with those kinds of stores. I could spend hours in there and hundreds of dollars updating my look and trying to be more beautiful. But what busy mom has time for that?
I walked by the nail polish section and saw this fun glittery nail polish that was drawn to. I thought about getting it but then I thought about how long it has been since I painted my nails and how I probably wouldn’t get to it for a while anyway. So you know what I did? I grabbed it and bought it along with the other practical make up refills that I went into the store for in the first place.
Then I actually painted my nails. Fingers AND toes. All because becoming an excellent mom means that I need to take care of myself and I need to make time for fun too.
This is something that I have to keep reminding myself of. All work and no play is draining and when I don’t take care of myself I am teaching my kids to follow in my footsteps. I already know that my husband likes for me to invest in looking and feeling good about myself.
So here’s your homework: Do one thing today that is fun, is just for you and takes care of yourself in someway. It may be something you’ve neglected or put off. Go do it! And have fun!
See you’re already on your way to becoming a more excellent mom and you look great while you’re at it {wink}.
I love you friends and love being on this journey of motherhood with you!
