Hi Friends!
We’re doing a fun thing for The Declare Conference where we share a bit about ourselves before we gather together next week. Even if you aren’t going to Declare it is always fun to get to know your girlfriends a little better. Here are a few fun things you might not know about me. Please stick around and share a few things about yourself with me in the comments! xoxo
4 THINGS ABOUT ME/MY LIFE
- I got married as a young 19-year-old and have been married for 17 years to a guy who lays down his life for me. He makes me want to be a better woman. We work hard to have a great marriage!
- I used to want to be a dancer when I grew up. I spent my preteen and teen years in dance class, went on tour, traveled with a Christian mime group, and declared dance as my major in college.
- Some people may think that I am a health food nut (my husband included). It’s really only because I’ve had health issues for the past several years and have learned to eat healthy to heal. I am pathetically weak when it comes to sugar so I just have to not eat it at all.
- I gave birth to 7 children within 10 years. We have a son in heaven who was born prematurely at 25 weeks, lived 6 hours and then died (the hardest thing I’ve ever been through). We have 6 children that we get to serve here on earth. 5 girls and 1 boy, ages 5-15 (including a set of twins).
4 OF MY ENDEARING QUIRKS
- I get bored really easily and like change. My husband teases me about how many times I’ve painted the rooms in the homes we’ve lived in. This blog design changes almost as frequently.
- I am the oldest girl of 10 kids (I have 1 older brother) so I almost always have an answer for friends or want to solve their problems. It’s the big sis in me that wants to help. So, if you just want me to listen…just tell me.
- I am a big klutz! I am constantly injuring myself and all those years of dancing (gracefully, I might add) didn’t help. I will often have bruises, cuts or burns to show for my clumsiness.
4 THINGS ABOUT MY BLOG/WRITING
- I’ve had book ideas about every stage of my life but never really felt called to write until a few years ago. Some of the book ideas I’ve spent a bit of time thinking through over my life are The Ultimate Wedding Planner, A Manual for Motherhood, the story of the loss of our newborn son & how God healed my grieving heart, and many more!
- I started blogging because God put it on my heart to start writing on a blog. 4 and 1/2 years later I’ve learned SO much. Wow, what a ride it has been!
- I mostly write to encourage moms who are in the thick of their motherhood. I want them to know how great their God is, how deeply they are loved, how they already are good moms, and that they don’t have to be weary moms. <— Every time I talk/write about this my heart starts beating faster and I get so very pumped up. It’s my passion.
- I’m about to start something brand new for moms calling them to be brave. It’s going to be fun and if you want to know more once I let the cat out of the bag you can sign up to be notified here.
4 OF MY FAVORITES (ANYTHING)
Really, only 4 things?
Is it wrong that all of the first things I think of for this category is food?
- Fajitas (especially from Mi Chulas here in Texas. Mmmm, the best ever!). Being from Texas, having moved away for nearly 20 years and then moving back I am so thankful for good TexMex food.
- A clear night sky full of stars. I could look at them forever.
- Pacifica Blood Orange Body Lotion* – oh.my.word! Smells amazing!
- Mark of the Lion Trilogy* Books by Francine Rivers. The best Christian fiction I have ever read and I’ve read a lot of it people! I read the first book when I was 15 and the second book wasn’t coming out for a year. You’ll feel sorry for me once you read the first book and get to the end. Two words – cliff hanger!

I keep hearing about that Pacifica Body Lotion– going to have to check it out! AND YES to the fajitas. I’m pretty sure I was born on the wrong side of the country because Southwest food is my fav.! Give me something in a tortilla and some lime to squeeze on top and I’m good!
Hope to meet you THIS WEEK!!! :)

Mime? Really? Me too! I was in a drama class and did my mime act on the road for a short bit. One act. That’s all I had. :) Love this 4×4 and getting to know each other. Can’t wait to meet everyone in person, where we can share stories with our voices. Although a mime night would be intriguing.

I love all the mommas with big families who are coming. When we first married that was our plan. But God had a different one we are learning now. Shepherding innovators.
You are an inspiration simply by choosing to walk the course set before you. Looking forward to seeing you next week.

You traveled with a MIME group?! I love that so much. Did you do the whole face painting thing? Can you please pretend to pull yourself off stage at some point during the conference? It would really mean a lot to me. ;)
