Welcome to Day 29 in our 31 Day series on A Mom’s Guide to Getting it All Done. In case you missed yesterday’s post you may want to go and read it first. Or just jump in right here with us today.
Trying to get it all done can be exhausting if you are trying to do everything full out. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t live life with excellence but I am saying that perfection is going to have to go so that you can get the really important things done.
There are so many ways you can get things that you need to do done in a short amount of time so that you can focus on your goals and dreams for yourself and your family. There are lots of things that will suck time away if you let them. Some days you want to spend 2 hours on a gourmet meal for your family but some days you just want to feed them quick and with little effort. Some mornings you want to go all out with your clothes and makeup and other days you need to look your best within 5 minutes.
Here are a few tips to help you simplify so that you can focus on the important things:
Make a list of simple, easy meals you can throw together in 10 minutes or less and stock your pantry and/or fridge with the ingredients. I have a pinterest board I keep for these types of meals if you’d like some ideas to start.
Lay out your clothes the night before each evening. This could potentially be a huge time saver if you are like me and take several minutes to decide what you should wear. You can simplify even further by having Stitch Fix shop for you and send you clothing in your style whenever you want to schedule a box (it’s fun and such a time saver!).
Learn to do a 5 minute version of your makeup. I have gotten this down to a science. I love to spend more time with it when I have it to spend but most days it’s 5 minutes and I’m done.
Have laundry days for each person in the family. I do my husband’s and mine on the same day, my younger 3 kids together on another day and then my teens each do their own laundry on different days. Saves lots of time on sorting!
Use Amazon Prime and Prime Now for shopping. I used to think that running all over to save a little money was so worth it. Now I value time more than the little bit of money I would save by shopping multiple stores. and now Amazon Prime delivers so many items within 2 days and Prime Now will deliver even some cold grocery items the same day. I’ve also heard that some Wal-Marts will allow you to order from their website and then drive there, stay in your car and pick up your order (where was this when I had 3 babies under 2 is what I want to know?!!).
These are just a few ideas to get you started. I encourage you to think about your days. Find the things that suck up the most time and brain storm about how to cut the time to do them down. Sometimes thinking outside the box is just what you need to simplify and save time.
What are your best simplifying and time-saving tips? Please share!
