I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.Psalm 34: 1
In Psalms 34:1 David is making a declaration about how He is going to handle life. Have you ever felt that perhaps David knew something that we don’t?
When was the last time you went through something difficult {and yes, the fight your kids just had counts}? Doesn’t it seem like a nearly impossible task for praise to continually be in your mouth? I mean we go through some tough stuff in this life and we are pretty much guaranteed that we will continue to.
Imagine with me, if you will, the boulders, that are your problems, no matter how big or small they may be. Can you see the boulders piled high and heavy and weighing you down? Now start telling those boulders who your God is. Say to that worry that God is your provision. Say to that hurt that He is your healer. Say to that weakness that His strength is made perfect in your weakness. Say to that problem that God is your defender and that He is for you.
Sounds like you are beginning to praise Him for who He is.
Praise is all about the worthiness of God and not about how you feel. Just begin to practice praising Him even if you don’t feel like it. I promise you that you will become stronger and your heart will become full of hope.
God is SO good that, even though praise is not about us in the least, He allows our praise to build up our faith and our courage. The joy of the Lord is our strength and joy comes when we recognize and praise Him for who He is.
So how does all of this have anything to do with being a good mom? Let me ask you this: do your cares and worries weigh you down? Do they affect your emotions and how you handle stress? How beautiful would it be to praise instead of worry and let your King of Kings handle your worries? I’m pretty sure your children and your husband would be amazed at the change it created in you. After all, “If momma ain’t happy ain’t nobody happy!”
