Have you ever felt alone in your parenting? Your mind races on how to deal with the difficult parenting issues you are facing and no one else seems to be struggling quite as much?
Perhaps it’s notes sent home from school or a child who forgets what you told them as soon as you told them? Maybe it’s outright disobedience and defiance that you just don’t understand? It happens often enough to keep you in a stressed state over whether you will ever overcome this issue.
The usual stuff doesn’t seem work and that is what makes you feel alone. If you do ask for help from others their advice isn’t the cure for your child which makes you feel even more alone in your parenting.
So what do you do?
I have learned that there is no greater answer than divine wisdom that is custom tailored for you and your child. When you are desperate and embarrassed and feel hopeless ask a God who parents the best way and knows you and your child intimately for wisdom. He promises to grant it when we ask and believe Him for it. Ask. Wait. Get answers.
3 of my 6 kids have been the “wild ones” or the ones who just don’t seem to fit the mold. They push the limits, defy the rules and keep me on my knees and toes. But I have been at this parenting thing long enough to know that there is always hope. I have seen a child’s heart change right in front of me and have been so amazed by the wisdom God has given me in desperate moments simply because I asked.
I will leave you with this thought that I recently shared with a friend:
I know God has incredible plans for your child and you play a special part in molding them into who He created them to be. God’s got your back, knows it isn’t easy and will be the lifter of your head. Lean heavy into Him and He’ll carry you through these tough days. Imagine one day you will be such a proud momma who was faithful and made it through to see her child do things for God’s kingdom that will blow you away. I know this is true because I’ve already begun to see teenagers who were impossible kids have hearts hard after God and even though it has been tough it is so very rewarding to begin to see fruit. Keep letting Jesus overwhelm what overwhelms you and you’ll make it.
Are you parenting a “wild one?” Sarah Mae and Sally Clarkson are doing a webinar that starts tonight called Discipleship & Discipline – Practical Parenting Help for the Desperate Mom. The course is $17.99 and will be full of helpful information on mothering and even parenting a “wild one.” I love Sarah Mae’s story of “wild one” and how she gained wisdom on how to speak to her heart. This webinar will bless you! Sign up here.
