Welcome to Day 16 in our 31 Day series on A Mom’s Guide to Getting it All Done. In case you missed yesterday’s post you may want to go and read it first. Or just jump in right here with us today.
Yesterday we talked about how peace and joy are really what we are looking for when we desire to “get it all done.” We long to feel at peace and have joy and we tend to think that having everything in order and working well will bring us those things. But we can have both peace and joy in the midst of the journey.
Let’s talk about joy today.
Do you have joy in your life? It’s something I had felt was strangely elusive, especially in the midst of what can be sometimes chaotic motherhood. I didn’t really seek it out because I wasn’t sure I wanted to hope for it. It sounds almost too good to be true. Joy no matter what you are facing? Yep, too good.
If you study God’s word on the topic of joy you will find that joy comes from 3 things. They are: spending time in God’s presence, Obeying His commands and loving others. Pretty simple right? It’s not this super difficult thing to gain, well okay, maybe it is. Joy comes when we die to ourselves, submit to God’s lordship in our lives and serve others with genuine love.
That’s how we want to live though, right? Completely surrendered and walking in God’s will, taking Him at His Word and obeying Him, and loving those He loves and doing it all from a place of being constantly refreshed in His presence. Yes, that’s exactly how I want to live.
So, there is a clearly laid out path for us to gaining true joy in the midst of our journey of getting all the things done. I don’t know about you but that’s the path I want to take and the way I long to walk. Want to join me?
See you back here tomorrow for Day 17 in our A Mom’s Guide to Getting it All Done series. If you’d like to get the posts straight to your email inbox click here to sign up.
