Welcome to Day 23 in our 31 Day series on A Mom’s Guide to Getting it All Done. In case you missed yesterday’s post you may want to go and read it first. Or just jump in right here with us today.
I cannot escape this one thing – There is no striving in God’s love.
I could just stop there and let that wash over you in waves until it sticks and you believe it. But lets dive into that a little more.
Sometimes our desire to “get it all done” is because we just want order and to find peace. However, sometimes it is because we are desperately seeking approval and to feel okay in our own skin.
So, we strive and push and pull to get to the place we think we need to be. We work to be accepted, loved and approved of. We may get distracted and work on the wrong things with the wrong goals because we are never satisfied with the result of our efforts.
But God will never love you more and never love you less than He does right now in this moment. You are so secure in His love that you have all of His affection and the fulness of His approval. Jesus paid the price for nothing less.
Your little check marks next to your to do list are not approval marks for you in His book. They may give you a sense of satisfaction but they don’t make His satisfaction with you any greater or diminished. So, before you have your plans in place for accomplishing all you have to do make sure that you allow yourself to be overwhelmed with His love.
How would being absolutely secure in His love change things for you? If you’re really gut-level honest with yourself do you believe that you don’t have to strive in any way for His love?
