Welcome to Day 10 in our 31 Day series on A Mom’s Guide to Getting it All Done. In case you missed yesterday’s post you may want to go and read it first. Or just jump in right here with us today.
God’s path for you is perfect. Have you ever stopped to think about that? We tend to fight it (well, I do at least). We want what others have, we envy their achievements and think they somehow have it better.
The truth is you never miss out when you keep your eyes on the One who knows you best and loves you most.
He wants you to have an abundantly beautiful life that is free of comparison because you trust Him deeply. He desires for you to become stronger in Him with each hard thing you face. The hard things are designed to make you more like Him.
The sooner we yield and the more fully we trust the better it gets.
I keep wanting to get to the practical aspects of getting all the things done in this series but, as I pray about it and for you each day that I write, I cannot get away from what God really wants us to know – we will never get the right things done and get on top of our to do lists until we come to fully trust Him to make our lists for us. Even the practical stuff. Especially the practical stuff.
These lists have to be based on His best for us and His will and not at all on what others are doing that we want to do to. Think about that. Remove all the external pressure. Forget Pinterest and Instagram and the other moms in your Bible study, play group, neighborhood, workplace, and/or ministry. Ask yourself – is there anything I am doing that is only because I think I should or because I somehow feel pressure to please/impress/be like these other people?
Maybe we should write a different kind of to-do list today. The kind that removes anything that we are doing from a place of pressure or guilt or insecurity. Ask God, who loves you dearly, to show you the things that are going to fill you up with joy and be life-giving to you and your family. Ask Him to help you lay down anything that is not on His list for you.
I don’t know all of you personally but whenever I pray for you all going through this series with me I am in awe. I can sense God’s heart for you so strongly and it makes me love you so dearly. You are so amazing and I cannot wait to find out all of the incredible things God has in store for you!
