I keep checking the twitter and Instagram feeds, reading the blog posts and hearing the stories of all that God did in the women that attended. They have poured in ever since The Declare Conference was ending a few short weeks ago. I cannot get over them.
I’ve wanted to sit down and write out my thoughts ever since but I didn’t seem to have the words for it all. We (the Declare team) prayed a thousand little prayers since last year’s conference and the beginning of Declare this year. I have never before had such anticipation and expectation about what God was about to do. Deep in my spirit I knew it was going to be BIG.
The conference was all about Wild Obedience this year. Our hearts were to encourage women, who led other women with their words, to obey God and His call on their lives. To obey in the little things and watch God bless their obedient steps. And I was watching God right before my eyes, take my little yeses and obedient steps and break and multiply them a hundred times over.
You see, I didn’t do this whole conference planning thing perfectly. I started out feeling like I joined the team on accident by offering to help with something they needed the second year of Mama’s Write (which is now The Declare Conference). After that small gesture I stayed on and continued to help with the conference planning.
It took a lot of time but was very rewarding. I enjoyed the work and I LOVED the women I got to work with on the team. But I have to be honest and say that sometimes I didn’t get it right. Sometimes I worked too much. Sometimes I didn’t keep my priorities in the proper order. Some days were really tough and God had to transform my heart in so many ways. I learned so much and grew tremendously. And God used it all.
Even though I didn’t do it all perfectly, even though I struggled through a lot of it, God used my yes to His call. He used the yeses of all of our team and showed us up close and in person what kind of fruit wild obedience can yield.
The testimonies make me just want to drop to my knees. I’m convinced that there is nothing quite as humbling as watching God do miracles with the little that you offer. I can barely breathe as I think on all that He has done. I am so in awe.
Women were set free from age-old lies that had gripped their souls. Dreams were stirred up and ignited once again. New ideas were birthed. Calls to obey in the small and simple were heeded. And lives were changed.
Lives were changed!
I cannot get over that. Sure, God could have done it all through someone else. Through another team, another conference. But He chose us, asked us to partner with Him and see what happened.
Here I am again on my knees. So in awe.
And here is where I tell you that, friend, we can change the world! All it takes is our wild obedience to the small things that God calls us each to. They have a ripple effect and a Kingdom impact that will humble you to your knees when you begin to see what God does with what you offer.
I will never forget The Declare Conference 2014. It’s the year where God proved to me that if I just obey, even when I have no idea what the next step will look like, He will do amazing things in and through me. He’ll do it for you too!
What step of wild obedience do you feel God calling you to? What can you do today to answer that call today?
