In order to be good moms we desperately need to hear and believe the truth about what God says about us. Which means we must take time to spend with our Heavenly Father to know Him, hide His Word in our hearts and hear His voice.
Once we begin this process for ourselves we can begin to hear and speak life over our kids.
An excellent mom allows God to use her in the process of identifying her children’s callings and speaking truth into their lives.
Let’s be honest, the enemy is ruthless, even with the tiniest of future leaders. He knows that your child has the potential to grow into a world changer who serves a mighty God and he will do everything in his power to derail the great calling on your child’s life by speaking lies to them about who they are and who God is.
It is our job to know the truth, identify the lies and speak life into our kids.
This is an ongoing process and really it never ends. We equip our kids to identify lies so that they easily recognize them and take those thoughts captive. If they learn how to do this early then they will walk in an incredible amount of freedom as they grow.
I have 5 girls. Yes, we’ve heard all of the hormone jokes and how the weddings in the future are going to be expensive. We also deal with “mean girls” assaulting our girls occasionally {especially the teenagers}. One of the ways I am able to help my girls in these situations is not always to tell her what to do about the mean girl but rather help her to see and know truth about herself so that the mean girl doesn’t have any power over her. Then she is able to love the mean girl, knowing that hurt girls hurt girls.
We can teach this with our words but we also have to live it with our lives. Your kids are watching you. They see when you take offense and are hurt. They see what you do with the pain and will copy your behavior. If you know who you are and who God is then you will model truth to your kids.
What ways can you speak truth into the lives of your children today? Is there an area that you need to believe truth about who God says you are or who He is? Pursue freedom for your life so that you model freedom for your children.
I’m praying for you today!
