This is a post from my beautiful and sweet friend Eryn from Mama Hall and The Declare Conference.
breath prayers are silent petitions, like little whispers from your heart to God’s. they are called “breath prayers” for the way the praying becomes like breathing: calming, repetitive, natural…instinctual. and also for the way they’re prayed: inhaling and exhaling, breathing in God’s grace and breathing out His praise.
sometimes, finding the words to pray doesn’t come easily. when i don’t know what to say, but i know i need God, a breath prayer is sometimes the best i can do. i let my prayer connect with my breathing, my direct-line to the Holy Spirit.
this ancient form of short, intentional prayer and praise has become a habit of mine, helping me connect with God throughout the day. breath prayers have helped me find my God-center and my faith-footing in the middle of busy-mom-moments. breath prayers are perfect for moms, especially on days when time alone with God is hard to come by.
just breathe. for a few breaths, be still and know that He is there. inhale slowly, be filled with peace and invite God’s presence, then exhale a prayer. breathe in again with hope and expectancy, and repeat the breath prayer as many times as needed.
here are 10 breath prayers for moms
// dear God, thank You for yesterday, thank You for today, and thank You for tomorrow. amen.
// i will not fear. You are with me. amen.
// Lord, have mercy.
// God, show me how to love like You have loved me. amen.
// Your will be done, Your kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven. amen.
// Lord, let me see my sin the way You see my sin. amen.
// You are my refuge and my strength. amen.
// Father, guard my heart, my mind, and my mouth. amen.
// Jesus loves me, this i know. amen.
// Father, heal me body, mind, and spirit. amen.
